Weekly Study
According unto the word of God,every disciple of Jesus should become skillful in the word and be able to teach someone else. When we take seriously God's great commission found in Matthew 28:19 - 20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo,I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." The last two studies have been on repentance, then faith towards God. We will spend two times of study on the doctrine of baptisms. You will notice in Hebrews 6:2,that this is how, it is stated. First of al let us acknowledge that baptism is a requirement. Mark 16:16 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;but he that believeth not shall be damned." Second, baptism has a requirement that must be meet;He that believeth. We see not only this requirement but also, what you are to believe in Acts 8:35 - 39. " Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water:and the eunuch said, See, here is water;what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said,If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he asnwered and said,I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still:and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch;and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him mo more:and he went on his way rejoicing." You will notice it was necessary to believe with all the heart, which a small child can not do, and it was also necessary for them to go down into the water. This is because the word baptize means to emmeres or to do under. Which would require for both of them to go down into the water. Next,we will see more truth about baptism.
